Director of Design (London)

Worrell is currently seeking a full-time Director of Design to join our growing team in London. This role reports to the CEO of Worrell and is responsible for leading the creative teams and projects based out of our East London office. The role of Director of Design, London, provides leadership for Worrell London’s creative teams and management responsibility for all project work – including human-centered design research, clinical observation, UX/UI design, service design, and human factors engineering. The Director of Design will ensure timely progress toward project deadlines, and deliverable outcomes that exceed client expectations.

The Director of Design will also work closely with the Director of Programme Development (London), the Business Development Manager (London), and executive leadership to effectively promote the Worrell brand in Western Europe, and globally. Responsibilities may include public speaking and writing on topics relevant to Worrell’s capabilities and expertise, as well as client presentations and assisting with proposal development.

Finally, the Design Director will be responsible for growing and developing the creative team at Worrell London. As creative and technical lead, the Design Director oversees the personal development of each team member, helping set and evaluate progress toward individual goals and advancement. The Design Director will also work with the CEO to make hiring decisions that support sustainable and diversified growth.

Responsibilities
• To conduct consulting business on behalf of our clients, applying design thinking, strategy, and principles to problem-solving and product development.
• To support business development efforts in Western Europe, and globally
• To nurture a culture of innovation and excellence within Worrell’s organization
• User-Centered Research (design of research tools, ethnographic interviews, observation, usability testing, synthesis and analysis)
• UX/UI design (information architecture, wireframes, digital prototyping, aesthetic user interface graphics, etc.)
• Service Design (journey mapping, service blueprinting, strategy development, roadmaps, playbooks)
• Project management
• Writing, speaking, critique, co-creation, presenting, etc.
• Periodic travel

Job Requirements:
• Master’s degree or greater in User Experience, Industrial Design, Digital Design, or related design field
• 7-10+ years of experience working in a design (agency preferred)
• Experience working in the healthcare sector
• Management experience, both creative teams and projects
• Exceptional oral and written technical communication skills
• Functional understanding of Human factors principles and guidance
• A flexible, adaptable work style and ability to juggle several projects at once
• A positive attitude and good sense of humor
• Multi-lingual fluency (preferred)
• Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the UK
